Brief Background

The School of Sports and Exercise Medicine (SSEM) of the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho is a pioneering hub for excellence in sports and exercise medicine. At SSEM, we are committed to shaping the next generation of leaders, researchers and practitioners who will drive positive change in the world of sports and exercise science.  

Our School is built on a foundation of innovation, collaboration and community engagement. We offer cutting-edge programmes that blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills, ensuring that our graduates are equipped to tackle the complex challenges facing the sports and exercise industry. Our state-of-the-art facilities, HPL, expert faculty, strong industry partnerships and collaborations provide a dynamic learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and professional growth.  

 

The School of Sports and Exercise Medicine was established to address the growing need of expertise in sports and exercise medicine in Ghana and beyond. Our School is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of exercise as medicine and to promoting physical activity as a key component of healthcare. We are committed to building a community of scholars and practitioners who are passionate about using exercise and sports to improve health outcomes, enhance athlete performance and promote social development.  

 

Our School is part of a larger ecosystem of sports, exercise and healthcare organisations in Ghana and we are working to strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders to drive positive change in the world of sports and exercise medicine. We have established strong relationships with sports teams, healthcare providers and fitness organisations. The School is committed to using these partnerships to promote physical activity, prevent sport injuries and optimise athlete performance.  

 

Through our teaching, research and community outreach initiatives, we are working to build a new generation of leaders in sports and exercise medical professionals who are equipped to address the complex challenges facing the sports and exercise industry.
