Isiaka Oladele Oladipo is a visiting scholar with the Department of Sports and Exercise Medical Sciences in the School of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
Education
He did his undergraduate programme in University of Benin, Nigeria and finished with Second Class Honours Upper Division in 1991. He obtained his master’s degree in 1995 and Doctor of Philosophy in Exercise Physiology in 2000 from University of Ibadan.
Work Experience
He joined the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, University of Ibadan in 2001 as Lecturer II and was called to Professorial Cadre in 2014 as a Reader and full Professor in 2017. He served as the Head of Exercise Physiology Unit in the department in the year 2002. He worked at Adekunle Ajesin University, Nigeria (2009). He served as visiting Scholar in the Department of Sports and Exercise Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (2010-2012). He was appointed a professor (part-time) of Sports Science and Technology in the Dept. of Sports Management and Policy Development, Pan African University and he is a Course Facilitator with National Open University, Nigeria.
Science/Research Output
His extensive research work in the field of Sport and Exercise Science specifically focused on the following areas: Influence of Physical Fitness Components on Sport and Exercise Performance; Contribution of Physical Activity and Therapeutic Exercise to the Management of Health Conditions and Disabilities, and Physiological Considerations for Talent Identification in Sport. He has over 50 publications in form of Chapters in Books and Journal Articles.
Memberships
Professor Dele Oladipo is presently the Managing Editor of the Africa Journal of International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance. He has served as a member ICHPER.SD Exercise Physiology Commission and has attended several local and International Conferences including Biennial Conferences of European College of Sport Science.
Prof. Dele Oladipo is a former elite football referee. He officiated over hundred top rated football matches in Nigeria and took part in the 1995 World School Sport Football Tournament held in Cagliari, Italy. He is currently a Premier League Football Referee Assessor and a FIFA Physical Fitness Instructor. He served the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as Resource Personnel in Identification and Development of Football Referees in Nigeria. Within the University of Ibadan, he had served as the Sports Secretary of University of Ibadan Senior Staff Club; Congregation Representative on University of Ibadan Senate; Warden, Tafawa Balewa Hall; Secretary, Faculty of Education Induction Committee and Post-graduate students Adviser. Prof. Dele Oladipo was one of the recipients of the award of Life Patron of Nigerian Red Cross Society Oyo State Branch during the 2019 World Red Cross Day. He is a national and international consultant on Nutrition and Sport Performance.
