Dr. Joy Nneoma Akameze is a Lecturer in the Department of Sports and Exercise Medical Sciences, School of Sports and Exercise Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana.
Education
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Recreation from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She obtained a Master and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees, both in Exercise Physiology in 2014 and 2019 respectively from University of Calabar, Nigeria. She is a Level 1 Athletics Technical Official certified by IAAF, now World Athletics. In addition, she has a Certificate in Sports Medicine and Advance Diploma in Sports Management from International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Work Experience
She has experience and skills in the use of Exercise to maintain health, fitness and wellness, as well as rehabilitative measure to sports injuries, as she has worked with various sports teams in both Akwa Ibom and Cross River states of Nigeria.
She has officiated in both National and International competitions such as the 2018 Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), held in Nigeria and West African University Games (WAUG) also held in Nigeria in 2018. Furthermore, she was with the University of Calabar, and also a Lecturer/Course facilitator with the International Sports Institute.
Research Interest/Output
Her research interests include exercise and health, fitness, wellness, human morphology and performance. Dr. Akameze has about 12 published works to her credit in local and international journals and has attended several local and international conferences, where she served in different capacities, such as Scientific Committee Secretary, and Rapporteur.
